The Leadership California Annual Awards Dinner has always been about celebrating women who are leading the way to a better lives and better futures for Californians through civic, business, and service achievements.

Now, for the first time, a Corporate Leader, Pacific Gas and Electric company, will be honored for their commitment to women’s leadership.

Honorary Dinner Co-chairs are Jackie Speier, U.S. Congressional Representative, and Jan Yanehiro, Broadcast Journalist.

Mistress of Ceremonies is Janet Reilly.

Community Leader Award

Lynette Jung Lee, Executive Director of the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation in Oakland will receive the Community Leader Award for her wide range of efforts to promote strong communities in the East Bay and beyond. In one of her many notable successes, Lee formed a collaborative of nonprofit partners to promote homeownership by creating Individual Development Accounts (IDAs).Today the Bay Area IDA collaborative is seen as a national model for other organizations. Over the course of her tenure, Lee’s leadership has enabled the community to develop 1,100 units of affordable housing and 230,000 square feet of commercial property.

The Community Leader Award is p resented to an individual who exemplifies the influence and caring one can bring to the identification and solution of community problems.

Past recipients include: Marva Smith Battle-Bey, Janice Mirikatani, Doris Anderson, Linda de Mello, Shirley Gordon, Meredith Blake, Adrienne Pon, Tonia Reyes Uranga, Jan Masaoka, and Lisa Rawlins.

State Leader Award

Rosario Marin, Secretary, State and Consumer Services of the State of California will be honored with the State Leader Award. A longtime champion for the disadvantaged and cabinet-level advocate for
civil rights, consumer protection, victim compensation and “green” policymaking, Marin is recognized for her extraordinary service to Californians. She oversees the state’s building standards, professional licensing, procurement, real estate, employee pension funds, tax collection, and hiring programs – and administers two state museums and a state park. As the 41st Treasurer of the United States, she championed financial literacy, and served on the White House Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans. She was awarded the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Prize at the United Nations for her tireless work on behalf of persons with developmental disabilities.

The State Leader Award is presented to an individual who, through influencing policy and programs, exemplifies leadership for the state of California.

Past recipients include: Senator Jackie Speier, Julie Meier Wright, Delaine Eastin, Senator Liz Figueroa, Senator Dede Alpert, Senator Martha Escutia, Legislative Analyst Elizabeth Hill, Former Assemblywoman Gwen Moore, Former California Senator Rebecca Morgan, and Assembly Member Karen Bass.

Corporate Leader Award

For over 150 years Pacific Gas & Electric Company has provided energy and customer service to the people of California. PG&E has demonstrated support for the inclusion of women on its board, in its executive suites and has supported Leadership California since 1995. PG&E is an energy-based holding company headquartered in San Francisco, the parent company of Pacific Gas and
Electric Company.

The Corporate Leader Award is to be presented for the first time in 2008.
